Protect your skin!

Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!!!

I wanted to write a quick little blog talking about sunscreen. I am a HUGE believer in sunscreen when you will be out in the sun for a long period of time. I use sunscreen on my face daily, but only on my body when heading to the beach or long hikes. Getting a hour of full sun is great for you! Getting some vitamin D daily is amazing for your health.

Have you ever wondered what was in that sunscreen you were lathering on yourself and your children? There are more then 80,000 chemicals on the market today, and many of those are in the skincare and beauty industry. Those chemicals can cause so many healthy problems like allergies, asthma, cancer, infertility, and the list goes on. I was so happy that I found a healthy alternative.

A good friend of mine told me about Beauty Counter. They are a company that aim to get safer products into the hands of everyone. Data from the Beauty Counter site state "Only about 10% of the 10,000 chemicals commonly found in personal care products have safety data." And that "the United States has NOT passed a major federal law to regulate safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938." I personally don't even know how that is possible?!?!?

Beauty Counter has banned more then 1,500 ingredients, setting a new health and safety standard. I have been using their products for years.

The sunscreen is amazing! I have two kinds. The sun stick is great for everyday use, I put it on my face after I moisturizer. Its not greasy and it has a nice smell. The tube is more like "beach day" sunscreen and its white and you need to rub it in well, but I have never gotten burned using it. (it works on my skin type, other skin types might be different)

Take this one step on making your life as chemical-free as possible. More chemical-free living tips to come in future posts. Happy Sunning!
