What is a Health Coach?

What does a health coach actually do?

That is a question I am getting a lot since I started this blog. So I wanted to fill you in on what I have been doing and what my goal with Finely Nourished is.

The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (or IIN) is the biggest and most reputable school to help people become a health coach.  I chose IIN because they teach us dietary theories, nutrition and coaching techniques to really listen to our clients and help them achieve the health goals they want for themselves. I am really here to be a cheerleader and guide you through the process.

The best definition of a health coach comes right from IIN. "A wellness authority and supportive mentor who motivates individuals to cultivate positive health choices. Health coaches educate and support clients to achieve their health goals through lifestyle and behavior adjustments."

One of the best things about being a health coach is helping a wide range of people. They teach us over 100 dietary theories because everyone is unique, and what works for one person might not work for another. I am not here to make you eat what I eat. I am here to help you figure out what is best for you and your body. I am here to help you meet your goals and create new ones. I am here to help you become the best you can be and I want you to have fun doing it!

As as health coach I am NOT a doctor, nutritionist, or dietitian.

I am currently still in school and will be graduating in January 2017. Once I graduate I will be taking on clients and will hopefully host some workshops here in LA. Until then, I am here giving fun tips on how to make healthy choices in your every day life.

I find the key is not to try and do too many things at once! Its a journey, not a race.
