Top 3 all-natural DIY face masks

Nourishing your body from the inside out can play a major role in giving skin a natural, healthy glow. But what about the from the outside in? Even if your goal is to create a long-term health and wellness plan or lifestyle change, treating skin from the outside can have soothing benefits as well. Plus, self care is always a good thing, so go ahead and treat yourself!

That said, it's always a good idea to keep it natural, especially if you have sensitive skin or are prone to reactions of any kind. Most modern, store-bought brands, even designer ones, are packed with chemicals. No matter how wonderful they may smell, if you can't easily identify all of the ingredients listed on the label, you may want to opt for a more holistic approach. Below, are my top 3, all-natural DIY face masks - all created with simple ingredients that you probably have in the kitchen right now!

For Oily Skin

Finely Nourished eggs

Ingredients: oatmeal, eggs, honey, olive oil

  • Combine one egg

  • One tbsp of honey

  • One tbsp of olive oil

  • Plus, a half cup of oatmeal

  • Stir the ingredients until you get a uniform mixture, then apply the mask to your face for 15-20 minutes

Remedy: The combination of these ingredients will soothe and mattify oily skin. While the oatmeal nourished, the egg tightens and brightens. Egg yolks are rich in fatty acids, and when applied directly to the skin, have a moisturizing affect. It might seem counterproductive to add oil to a mask intended for oily skin, but it’s actually an essential ingredient. Using the right amount of oil will help replenish and balance your skin’s natural oils, keeping it balanced and healthy.

Finely Nourished avocado

For Dry Skin

Ingredients: avocado, plain organic yogurt, honey

  • In a bowl, mix together one tsp of plain organic yogurt

  • One tsp of honey

  • Plus, ½ of a ripe avocado

  • Once you get a uniform paste, apply to the skin and leave on your face for 10-15 mins

Remedy: This mask is great for dry or stressed-out skin. Avocados are full of natural oils that can easily penetrate deep into the skin, helping to soften and hydrate. At the same time, the yogurt's lactic acid will help to slough away dead skin cells, while tightening pores. For super hydration, add one or two tsp of virgin olive oil or coconut oil.

Finely Nourished lemons

Exfoliating Mask, For All Skin Types

Ingredients: lemon, brown sugar, olive oil, honey

  • Combine the juice of ½ a lemon into a bowl

  • Add 1 tbsp of olive oil, and mix

  • Add 1 tbsp of honey and whisk together

  • Finally, add ½ a cup of brown sugar

  • Apply to your face in gentle, circular motions, and leave on for 7-10 mins

Remedy: Sugar is a natural exfoliant and will improve the overall texture of your skin, while the lemon goes to work at naturally lightening sun spots - leaving behind a more even and beautiful skin tone. The olive oil will soothe and moisturize, followed by the touch of honey which is a natural source of antioxidants. This mask is perfect for anyone in search of all-natural, holistic anti-aging remedies!
